Miguel Angel López, Cuban outside hitter, has officially completed his transfer to Al Rayyan SC of Qatar. After his stint with Brazilian Sada Cruzeiro, López has been registered to compete with his new team for the remainder of the season. This includes appearances in the prestigious Qatar Cup and the Emir Cup.
López made an impactful debut in the first match of the Qatar Cup, signaling a promising start with Al Rayyan SC. The tournament showcases the top four teams from the Qatari Super League, including current champions Al Arabi SC, Al Rayyan SC, Qatar SC, and Police SC. Some of these teams are known to bolster their rosters significantly for the season-ending competitions.
Notably, Al Arabi SC has strengthened its lineup by signing José Miguel Gutiérrez from Italy’s Taranto and Hungarian opposite Krisztián Pádár who arrived from Japan wher he played for Toray Arrows. Al Rayyan SC, alongside López, also fields the Estonian opposite Oliver Venno. Qatar SC maintains a consistent team from their Super League campaign, featuring opposite Evgenii Tiurin and outside hitter Denis Kochnev from Russia.
Following the departure of Maxim Zhigalov to Korea, Police SC responded by acquiring Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger and added Iranian outside hitter Amirhossein Esfandiar, setting the stage for a competitive conclusion to the season.
The Qatar Cup semifinals commenced yesterday, with Al Arabi SC defeating Police SC 3-1. Today, Al Rayyan SC showcased their prowess with a decisive 3-0 victory over Qatar SC, marking an auspicious beginning for López with his new team.
