In the opener, Camponesa/Minas upset Vôlei Nestlé/Osasco in the Brazilian derby 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-19). Priscila Daroit ’Pri Daroit’ topped Minas with 15 points. Osasco came to the tournament with a full roster, including Brazilian NT members Tandara Caixeta and Ana Beatriz Correa ’Bia’, who returned from the 2017 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup, and Lorenne Teixeira, who competed in the 2017 FIVB U23 World Champs. The newcomers in Osasco, Nadja Ninković from Serbia and Fabíola de Souza, are also registered for these test matches in Lima.
In the other Round 1 encounter, the Peruvian National Team succumbed to the Brazilian Superliga side Fluminense F.C. 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-18, 25-18). Thaís da Silva ’Thaisinha’ scored 23 points for Fluminense, same as Ángela Leyva on the other side.
