Destinee Hooker used to be a key player in the US National Team until three years ago when she left it due to a dispute with the head coach Karch Kiraly. Is it time for her big comeback?

Hooker is getting back into shape after giving birth and previously refusing offer from Chinese team Tianjin due to pregnancy, in September 2015.

On her Instagram profile, she indicated she was ready to return to US National Team for the first time since 2013 and play at 2016 Olympic Games.

„Have to get invited first“, Hooker wrote, answering to the question if she is going to be ready for her invite to NT training camp.

Then, she received a suggestion that she should be honored to have a chance to represent her country at Rio Olympics…

„It doesn’t work that way sadly“, Hooker added.

What will coach Kiraly say on this?

@dee jae69 theres a lot of them but not as athletic and as talented like hooker. Fawcett, Murphy, and the other one cant remember her are not on the same level as hooker, they couldn’t score in an out of system play and all are first timer in the olympics. They would all crumble in the middle of a very hostile brazilian crowd. A very athletic, can score in all cylinders utility is needed for the USA team. Hooker is the answer to their missing arsenal.

@Watcher who ever you are its best to be wise before speaking so quickly. Don’t forget that though hooker was in peak form some years back, she never helped the team win gold at a major competition, the squad today made history in 2014 winning the gold at the world championship without hooker. It’s not about having one outstanding player its about having a deep USA team. How u doin

@Zeke Whoever you are its best to know, that when they win the world championshiop..they were just lucky becoz most of the team were shock at how fast they were playing!!!! look at the world cup most of the team were prepared with their system thats why they place third! get that? and their opposite players are weak! lowe? she cant pass a ball to save her life while hooker, shes all around. When she first played in USANT shes already the main gun! have you watched the 2010 world championship? shes the only one battling it out vs Russia, the rest? Hooker, made the USA a 3-peat world granp prix champion, world cup silver, olympics silver. A deep USA team w/o hooker? is that how u describe a deep bench? lol. As what Im saying they need an opposite who can score during bad pass, understand? and when u said she didn’t help the team win gold, does akiradewo, harmotto, glass, larson, hodge give usa a major win? why are they still in the USANT? Is it fair to single out Hooker who from 2010-2012 made USA a well known team and the # 1 team in the world?
