Léia Nicolosi suffered a serious knee injury last week in the Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship and is out of the season.
Léia, from Sesi Vôlei Bauru, injured her right knee in the match against EC Pinheiros last Friday and the season is over for her. The former member of the Brazilian National Team with which she won two FIVB World Grand Prix and the same number of South American Championships, got injured during the third set of the match against Pinheiros, last Friday, in the ninth round of the Superliga 1XBET Feminina, and left the court in obvious pain. After the examinations were performed by the club’s orthopedist, the severity of the injury was confirmed: rupture of the right anterior cruciate ligament and an estimated time back on the courts of up to eight months.
This was Léia’s first season with the shirt of Sesi Bauru, after seven years defending Gerdau Minas. The São Paulo team will miss the veteran libero in the season in which they have high aspirations that even go to fighting for the title in Brazil.
