Vakifbank’s setter Cansu Ozbay is a very talented setter and volleyball fans in Turkey see her a successor of Naz Aydemir Akyol

You are currently a backup for Naz. What does it look like to have one of the best setters in the world as you mentor?

It’s an amazing experience to play with her. I feel so lucky because I have a wonderful helper in my back all the time even in the hardest times. I am learning and improving myself because of her. I must also say that I am lucky also to have a captain like Gozde Kırdar who supports me always,” says Cansu Ozbay at the beginning of the interview.

What are the most important things that you learned from Naz?

I have learned how to be strong even in the most difficult moments.”

Describe working with such a coaching legend as Giovanni Guidetti?

Of course, it’s very important for me. Because he is the best in the world. I learned a lot from him and I am still learning. He wants all the time our best. That’s why we are improving a lot.

Each year, the fans expect VakıfBank to win trophies in every competition in which the club competes. Since this is only your second season in the club, how did you get used to this kind of pressure?

It’s a pressure but when you are on this team you are learning how to win and how to handle this pressure. This pressure is giving more motivation.”

It seems that the atmosphere in VakıfBank is something that separates this club from the others in Turkey but also in Europe. How often do you hang out with your teammates outside the games and training and how that socializing looks like?

Actually, we do not have a lot of time to spend outside but when we get the free time, we like to have a dinner all together in our favorite restaurants or we also like to go cinema some days.”

What are the things in your play with whom you are satisfied and what are things you need to improve?

At every practice, I am trying to be better in each segment. Because I am a young player I have to work a lot.”
