While her agent Tunc Afsar is working on her new challenge, Silvana is keeping the shape for the next season.
How do you spend the time since there are some restrictions due to coronavirus?
“In the beginning, it was hard to do anything because the whole country was in lockdown. I didn’t have a choice but to stay at home and do my workouts there. After I went back home in Bulgaria, I had to be under quarantine for 14 days and now everything is better, I started working out outside. Restaurant, parks and coffee bars are opened right now, I can go outside to see some of my friends and not to be locked in my house all day.”
Are you managing to find motivation for practicing at home?
“It’s been hard to find the motivation to workout during the pandemic. It is definitely more challenging to work out at home by yourself, but we are all going through this and that’s one thing that motivates you to push through. If I had to keep working out at home, it will be difficult for me personally to find motivation. Now stadiums are open and my workouts are getting much better and I find motivation much easier than before.”
You had a very good season in Italy. How would you describe your season in Italy?
“Yes, I had a good season in Italy. I was getting along with the girls on my team, which always been important for me. I really like the apartment and the city I was living in. I’m sad though that COVID-19 had to end our season because we were doing really good this season. We were in third place before they postponed our season and I believe we would’ve gone further if the rest of our season didn’t get canceled.”
All competitions at the national team level have postponed. How difficult is that situation for the players since you won’t be playing official matches for a very long time?
“It is equally hard for every athlete right now. We all are in the same situation and we all hope the virus goes way faster, so we can all go back to our normal lives. It will be hard to go back to playing games, and we all know it will take time, patience and hard work to get back to playing high-level volleyball again.”
Did you learn some things from this situation about coronavirus?
“I learned I shouldn’t be taking anything for granted and be thankful for everything I have in my life. I learned how to adapt to the conditions and the way we have to live our lives at the moment. It is hard but I know we all learned something from times like these.”
What are your plans for the next season?
“I am evaluating the proposals. I’ve been working hard no matter what and I will decide soon.”
