We’ve contacted the player from Slovenia in order to find out the plans for the future.

How do you handle this situation with coronavirus? Any difficulties?

I took this time to spend it with my family and my dog, to have a mental and physical rest from volleyball. I could also grow my own tomatoes and trees,“ explains Grudina at the beginning of the interview.

Is it difficult to stay in shape since there are no competitions since the beginning of March?

Hmm, physically not really, because I had a great coach Matija Reya in his gym Equilibrium, who was preparing me during this time, and I am now in a very good physical shape! With volleyball, I had more difficulties. Because of lockdown I was not able to use gyms, but I played some beach volley, and I’m now practicing with Gen-I Volley. It’s been a long time since the last game, so I think it will be a bit difficult to get back the in-game rhythm. But I’m not worried.”

In the last season, you played in Romania – How would you describe that journey?

It was my first time playing outside Slovenia. I had a great experience in Bacau. I had a good team and staff. I was sad that due Coronavirus we ended the season earlier because we were “fighting” with Targoviste for 3rd place, and we were in the national cup semifinals. But I met a lot of good people, had a good time and I always take something from every coach. So I’m very grateful for this opportunity.“

Are you satisfied with your performances there?

Hmm, I’m a perfectionist so I’m never satisfied with my level of play. I know that even if I play great I can always do better. So am I satisfied with my performance? Well… Sure. But I know I can do better.“

What are the plans for the next season?

Right now I’m still evaluating the proposals. Meanwhile, I’m practicing with my “home club” Gen-I so I stay prepared. I have great manager Tunc Afsar and great ex-player Tina Samec Lipicer who are helping me with finding a club, so I’m not worried, because I’m in good hands.“

Is there some goal in volleyball that you are still chasing?

My only goal has been and it stays, to always try to give my 101%. So I will see where my volleyball journey will take me.“
