Team Russia, coached by Andrey Voronkov, played two friendly matches against Brazil last weekend in Moscow and is preparing for the matches by relying on their teamwork. The team includes some new players who have been invited in the Russian national team, while key players Alexander Volkov, Maxim Mikhaylov and Taras Khtey will not participating due to injuries.
“Whether we play at the World League Finals or not will depend on our constant teamwork,” says Russia’s captain Sergey Makarov. “The players you saw on the court during the friendly matches against Brazil are likely to be a starting line-up and today they had a chance to understand it is not going to be easy.”
Iran’s team, lead by coach Julio Velasco, will also be composed of a mix of young and experienced players, who will fight for every point.
