BRA W: Jacque Carvalho doubt for World Grand Prix start

Jacqueline Carvalho is a doubt for the start of Brazil’s 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix campaign after she was rushed to hospital with an inflammation of the lungs.

She was taken from the team’s training camp in Saquarema to hospital and immediately received treatment, but after showing signs of recovery the 31-year-old wing-spiker returned home and is expected to be back training next week. 

There was nothing serious, they didn’t need to keep me in overnight,Jacqueline told GloboEsporte.com. “Today was my last day of treatment. I came to the hospital to be medicated and received antibiotic injections into a vein. I’m fine, I’ve already been released and in a few days I should be back in Saquarema.” 

Brazil begin their World Grand Prix campaign in Thailand where they will take on the host nation, Serbia and Japan. Jose Guimaraes team have just wrapped up a four-match series against Japan, which they won three matches to one. 

She had very bad flu, a serious problem of the lungs,Ze Roberto said. “It was not too serious, but needed care. She’s fine now, but will be weak for a little while. She should return to training next week.”
