The result of the first leg of the 2019 CEV Men’s Champions League semifinal between PGE Skra Bełchatów and Cucine Lube Civitanova showed that the players of an Italian side did not sweat too much to achieve the win.

Lube stormed to victory over Skra in the first leg of the 2019 CEV Men’s Champions League on the road. And it is never easy to beat any Polish side on their ground, let alone in straight sets. Lube setter Bruno Rezende is aware of this…

„We played a very good match. In the first set we served very well, we played aggressively. That’s why PGE Skra had some problems. We scored many points then. It was a really amazing set in our performance. We started the second set equally well, but PGE Skra made pressure on the serve and we had some problems. However, we continued the match with a calm approach and won. The third set is the match we expected because PGE Skra is a great team. They received better and Grzegorz Łomacz had more options to set. Our block had many more problems. We knew that for PGE Skra it was already a make-or-break set, so we continued our game calmly. Now we need to rest for a moment and focus on the Italian Championship. Rematch? We have to enter the game with the same concentration, energy, and aggressiveness as on Wednesday. We want to win and advance to the final in Berlin, but for this, we need maximum concentration. There is always a great atmosphere in Poland. We didn’t know how many people could come to this match, and again Atlas Arena was full. Poland is probably the best country to play volleyball and I love to be here,“ the Brazilian player said after the match.
