In Kuopio, in front of 1,500 spectators, the team coached by Andrea Giani beat the hosts 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-14). The best scorer in Germany was a returnee to the national team Georg Grozer with 19 points, while Olli-Pekka Ojansivu made 17 points for Finland.
The second encounter of the two teams is set for August 11, also in Kuopio. Afterward, Germany will play Belgium at home in Bremen, on August 19. The all above-mentioned matches serve as preparation for these three teams for the 2017 CEV European Championship in Poland (August 24 – September 3).

Next weekend (August 18 and 19), The Netherlands will play Italy, firstly in Doetinchem and a day after in Apeldoorn.
