VNL W: Turkey and USA ruthless on Italy and Canada at Day 2 closing

by WoV

The Turkey National Team gave no chance to hosts Italy on the second day of the competition in the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League in the Rimini bubble.

Turkey were ruthless on hosts Italy on Day 2 of the 2021 Women’s VNL. Both teams had exhausting openers, playing tie-breaks. And both continued walking the same path – Turkey won again, Italy lost again. Led by Eda Erdem Dündar and Hande Baladın (12 points apiece), the ladies coached by Giovanni Guidetti prevailed in straight sets, partially 25-13, 25-23, and 25-16.

Canada experienced the same fate as Italy in their match against NORCECA rivals USA. The reigning VNL champions struggled in the first set but then changed gear and conceded almost the same amount of points in the next two sets as in the first set: 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-10). Andrea Drews stood out in the US with 20 points. Kiera Van Ryk scored 13 for Canada.
