Rennes joined GFC Ajaccio Volley-Ball in hiring a medical joker already at the very beginning of the season.
Since they remained without an American outside hitter Gregory Petty for a long time due to a knee injury, which he sustained in the Ligue A opener against Paris Volley, and having Emmanuel Ragondet just recovered from injury, Rennes turned to finding a new solution for this position in the transfer market.
Their choice has fallen on the Czech player Kamil Baránek who was a free agent after parting ways with Paris Volley at the end of the last season. A 34-year-old outside hitter had a lot of success while playing in France in the last few season as he won two national titles in a row with Tours Volley-Ball, in 2013 and 2014.
Baránek should be able to make his debut for Rennes in the Ligue A encounter against Tourcoing Volley-Ball, this Saturday, and help his new club improve a 0-3 record.
