The third-placed Chaumont (14-5; 39 points) stayed in contention for the top-seed in the regular season as they beat No.2 Tours (13-6; 40 points) and made up to their fans for suffering a defeat to Stade Poitevin Volley Beach (Poitiers) in the previous round.
As you may guess, Chaumont’s hero today was a prospect opposite Stéphen Boyer. A 21-year-old player, No.1 on his position in the league when it comes to index (.537), silenced packed stands at Robert Grenon gymnasium (3,052 spectators) by pouring in 32 points, including 6 aces and 6 kill blocks! His teammate Jonas Aguenier made 6 kill blocks as well.
In Tours, the Latvian Hermans Egleskalns, scored 34 points (3 aces), while Bulgarian Svetoslav Gotsev contributed with 5 kill blocks.
Paris Volley benefited the most with the outcome of the above-mentioned encounter. By beating Montpellier Volley Université Club in straight sets, the team from the French capital returned to No.1 (14-5; 42 points). The Dutchman Wouter ter Maat topped Paris with 19 points. Jean Patry scored 26 points for Montpellier.
