She has been riding the crest of the wave for a while now and SESI-SP team captain Fabiana Claudino is hoping things will continue in her favour as her club heads into the finals of the Brazil Women’s SuperLiga on Sunday against Unilever.

“The expectation is high. I am super happy we have reached the final,” she said. “This was a season of overcoming and we have gone through a difficult time with a lot of unity and team spirit. Our team has come to believe in their potential we are seeing the results.”

Fabiana knows that it will be difficult to face Unilever in Sunday’s final, a team she knows well, having won the Super Liga title with them in the 2010/11 season.

“I will always have a special fondness for the Unilever team.  They are a very strong team and are tactically well fitted by Bernardo. I know that it will be a tough match, but our group is very motivated. Hope it’s a great game,” she said.

Well aware of the importance of her role as captain of the Sao Paulo club, Fabiana has been working hard to ensure that she is also in good shape to lead her team to victory. “I’m in good form and this is due to my family, my friends and also to our group. This has reflected on my performance on the court,” said the player who also captained the Brazil women’s team to a gold medal at the Olympic Games in 2012.
