The German Bundesliga team, SWD Powervolleys Düren, made a last-minute move in the transfer market just before the start of the new season. Due to a series of injuries, the club has signed French middle blocker François Huetz to strengthen their squad. Huetz joins after the team lost two players to injury: Argentinian Imanol Salazar, who is out long-term due to an elbow ligament tear, and Canadian James Vincett, sidelined with a back injury.
François Huetz last three seasons spent in French Pro A team Nantes Rezé Métropole Volley. During his time with Nantes, the 24-year-old helped secure top-three finishes in the French league and won the national cup. Huetz also made his debut with the French national team in the Nations League last year.
Düren’s coach, Christophe Achten, expressed relief at finding such a high-caliber player available, praising Huetz’s impressive blocking abilities and powerful serve, which stood out during his two-week trial with the team. Huetz cited the team’s positive environment and professionalism as key reasons for joining.
