SSC Palmberg Schwerin made the most of their break in play by announcing the signing of two new players, who debuted before the home crowd on Saturday evening. Karla Antunovic joined the team to fill in for injured setter Vedrana Jaksetic, while Thai player Pimpichaya Kokram stepped in as a replacement for outside hitter Nova Marring.
The match began with Suhl taking an early 6-1 lead, putting Schwerin’s defense under pressure with strong serves. However, SSC’s rising star Leana Grozer turned the game around with a series of aces. The high-risk serves from both teams made for an exciting game, thrilling the 1,700 spectators at the Palmberg Arena. Antunovic made her first appearance in the match and contributed with serves, helping SSC secure the first set 25-17. In the second set, Schwerin took an early lead, with Grozer once again proving unstoppable. Suhl struggled to find their rhythm and succumbed to a 25-14 loss in the set. The third set started more evenly, with Suhl managing to regain their footing. However, Schwerin’s home crowd rallied behind the team, and helped them to finally secure a 25-21 victory, completing the sweep. Leana Grozer, the standout performer with 21 points, was awarded the MVP title.
In the other matches played today, Aachen secured a 3-0 victory away against Münster, while Dresden also triumphed with a 3-1 win on the road against Wiesbaden. Another away win came from the Potsdam volleyball team, who defeated Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt in Erfurt.
