“It was a surprise for us when last night we found out that Bakun, Brdjovic and Apalikov would not play. However, we decided to focus solely on our game. Gazprom-Ugra is a great team and they play with a style which is totally different from what we are used to. They play power Volleyball, taking a lot of risks from the service line, their block is incredibly high, but in the end we won because we also played with our own style. I am pleasantly surprised by the way this final was organised and the warm welcome the local fans deserved to us. Though their favourite team lost, we received a lot of congratulations and a nice photo shooting was organised at the end. I would like to thank everyone for such warm welcome. For us this is a first European title and you can only imagine how happy we are,” says Serniotti.

I have never heard and seen of such a curious decision… They are in the Final, wanted to be in the Final, travelled to Berlin with all major Players, had chances to defeat Berlin at home and getting the Trophy, but the Coach decided, that the best Players don`t play… why do they play CEV Cup, spending a lot of Money and doing such a joke in the Finals…unbelievable
@anton I seriously think that this was a well disguised doping scandal again. They said that they wanted to play with other players but I call bull**** on that. No coach or chief of staff will take such a decision in such an important match in his right mind and it’s not just the coach. You know that the president would not allow it. So I’m pretty sure there was another reason.
@Anton Was there any doping control for that match? Normally teams know. Maybe because of that?
