After some weeks of intense training, the players are ready for the demanding coming months. The players were individually presented to the audience as they were put under spotlights and got the chance to wear the official jersey of the team for the first time. For the match with Generali, head coach Stelian Moculescu opted for a starting six composed by outside hitters Jose Rivera and Idi, setter Nikola Jovovic, opposite Ventceslav Simeonov, middle blockers Joao José and Max Günthör plus libero Nikola Rosic.
The group delighted the home audience right from the start with strong services and good attacks. “That was the beginning of a solid performance” said coach Moculescu. “We still have some items to fix but we are on the right track”. He certainly has got a wide roster as demonstrated by the team presentation, with many options for every single position on the field of play: a combination of very experienced players that are supported by young and promising talents. Opposite Simeonov, who is already 35, may eventually be replaced by Austrian rising star Thomas Zass. “If I look at the bench, I feel reassured” says Moculescu. “We have at least ten players I can alternate without losing in quality and consistency”.
The match with Generali HACHING eventually ended in a 3:0 (25-22, 25-17, and 25-22) to boost the confidence of the home side before the start of the CEV Volleyball Champions League. “None of our opponents will have an easy task here” singled out fan representative Rudi Krafcsik.
