If Nafels win on Sunday, the two teams will play the golden set (extra set of 15 points), and the winner goes to the next phase.
Finikas entered dynamically in the first set and came with 2 points lead by the first technical time-out (8-6) and taking advantage of errors by the Swiss team (16.9). Without much trouble, Finikas got to win the set by 25-17.
The hosts showed a difference in the second set, obviously influenced by the ease with which they took the first set and in conjunction with the rise of the Swiss, though originally preceded by 6-3 and 8-3, then found to follow a 14 – 16. With lots of serving mistakes on both sides, the two groups went point-by-point. At the result of 21-21 Finikas made a two point streak to get to (23-21). The Nafels gnawed the difference (24-23) but Finikas found the solution again and cleared the second set with 25-23.
In the third set Finikas preceded by stunning 5-0 ahead and arrived quickly to the first technical time-out (8-3). Nafels responded (8-11) and in combination with the socket errors gnawed the difference (11-11). After many exciting rallies, Nafels managed to claim the third set 25-21, decreasing the total score to 1-2.
In the fourth set Finikas came determined to cleanse the match. They led by 4-2, but Nafels replied with equalizer (4-4). Finikas didn’t get intimidated and arrived first at the first technical time out 8-6. After that, the Greeks wound’t leave it to chance, and finally they celebrated with 25-20, and 3-1 in total.
