Gas Sales Piacenza have returned to the Italian top division after one season and it seems they will have high ambitions next season. A new head coach of the one-time national champions, Cup and Super Cup winners, and CEV Cup winners is Andrea Gardini. A 53-year-old expert had a great season in Poland, winning the championship with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Thus, Gardini will return to the club in which he finished his active career (2003/04) that was more than successful: as the middle blocker of Italy national team he was a winner of the FIVB World Championship three times, CEV EuroVolley one time and FIVB World League six times.
Piacenza were promoted to SuperLega after beating Olimpia Bergamo in the series of the 2018/19 Division 2 (Serie A2 Credem Banca) playoff finals by a 3-0. A head coach that led the club last season, Massimo Botti, will become Gardini‘s assistant in the 2019/20.
