ITA W: Serie A starts – Egonu unstoppable in her first match for Imoco

The Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship titleholders Imoco Volley Conegliano continued where they left off last season.

The champions Imoco Volley Conegliano beat Saugella Monza in front of nearly 5,000 spectators at their PalaVerde, successfully starting the title defense campaign in the 2019/20 Serie A: 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-20).

Before the match set off, Imoco’s star player Paola Egonu was awarded the league’s best scorer last season, the achievement which she made while wearing the jersey of Igor Gorgonzola Novara. Also, the game was opened with the applause of all present in the hall reserved for Miguel Ángel Falasca, the late head coach of the visiting team.

Egonu top-scored for Imoco with 21 points, while Raphaela Folie made 6 kill blocks. The captain Serena Ortolani scored 13 points (4 kill blocks) for Monza.
