ITA W: After sudden move to Milan, ex-Vero Volley Monza down Serie A1 debutants Pinerolo at 2022-23 opener

The vice-champions with the new residency, Vero Volley Milano (ex-Vero Volley Monza), set off the 2022-23 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship in a victorious manner.

Just two days after announcing the move to the city of Milan (so far only for training) due to problems with local authorities in regard to using their Arena Di Monza, Vero Volley Milano (ex-Vero Volley Monza) beat the absolute debutants to the Italian top flight, Wash4green Pinerolo, 3-1. These two sides had the honor of opening the 2022-23 Serie A1.

The American opposite, Jordan Thompson, was Milano’s top scorer with 22 points. Her compatriot Dana Rettke had 4 blocks. The Pole Martyna Grajber and Yasmina Akrari scored 10 points each for the last season’s second-division (Serie A2) winners.
