The 80th Italian Tigotà Serie A Women’s Volleyball Championship kicked off with a thrilling performance by Savino Del Bene Volley, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Honda Olivero Cuneo at a lively Palazzo Wanny, packed with 2,315 spectators.
Savino Del Bene Volley took control early in the match, winning the first set 25-18. The second set proved to be more competitive, with the teams tied at 10-10, but Savino Del Bene pulled ahead thanks to blocks by Nwakalor and Antropova, finishing the set with the same 25-18 scoreline. The third and final set was a hard-fought battle, with Savino Del Bene extending their lead early, only for Cuneo to stage a comeback. However, Savino Del Bene held on, securing a 26-24 victory in the set to complete the sweep.
Statistically, Savino Del Bene dominated with superior blocking (5 individual blocks by Nwakalor) and effective serving (6-3 in aces). They also outperformed Cuneo in both attacking and receiving.
Ekaterina Antropova led all scorers with 18 points, while teammates Ruddins and Nwakalor each contributed 9 points. For Cuneo, Bjelica and Polder stood out with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
