Italian star Paola Egonu is set to miss the start of the new season due to a nasal infection requiring surgical treatment. Vero Volley Milano confirmed that medical exams revealed an infection in her nasal cavities, necessitating an endoscopic surgical procedure, which is scheduled for next week. The estimated recovery period will last several weeks.
Egonu shared an update on social media, expressing her disappointment at not being able to play. “Tomorrow begins the season of a championship I’ve been eagerly waiting for, but unfortunately, due to a health issue, I won’t be able to join my teammates on the court,” Egonu wrote. She also mentioned her regret at missing the Supercup final due to this issue.
However, Egonu remains optimistic, vowing to come back stronger: “I’ll return stronger than ever and, in the meantime, will support my team from the sidelines. Sending my love and strength to Vero Volley.”
