According to the Serbian sports portal Meridiansport.rs, Serbia has appointed a new head coach for senior women’s volleyball team. Zoran Terzić has accepted the offer from the Serbian Volleyball Federation and will once again lead the national team, marking his return after stepping down in 2021. Terzić, who guided the team to numerous victories in the past, has agreed to a long-term collaboration.
During his absence, Terzić led the Russian national team, although they were unable to compete in international tournaments due to sanctions. Meanwhile, Serbia was managed by Daniele Santarelli, who secured a bronze medal in the Nations League and a gold medal at the World Championship, and then by Giovanni Guidetti, who led the team to a silver medal at the European Championship.
After Serbia’s disappointing performance at the Olympics, the federation chose not to extend partnership with Guidetti and opted to bring back Terzić, a coach who has a proven track record with the team.
Terzić’s list of accomplishments with Serbia is impressive. He has won a gold medal at the 2018 World Championship and a bronze in 2006. At the European Championships, he earned silver in 2007, gold in 2011, bronze in 2015, and back-to-back golds in 2017 and 2019, as well as silver in 2021. His achievements at the Olympics include a silver medal in Rio 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo 2021.
