Monopoli has been the second setter of Lube for years, but now, when Michele Baranowicz got injured, he became the part of the starting lineup. Monopoli played the whole game against Perugia, which his team won in straight sets, and he was one of the best players on the court.
“I was really surprised by the avalanche of messages after the game. Many of my former teammates and ex-coaches wanted to congratulate me. I have worked with many great players for all this time in Lube, but I think I had the best relationship with Dragan Travica. I was enormously pleased when I saw that among all messages there was his one too.”
Monopoli added that he is not bothered about all rumors that Lube is intensively looking to hire another setter.
“Those stories do not distract me. I am ready to do my job, but if the club signs another setter, I am prepared to return on the bench.”
