According to some Italian media, Mauro Berruto, the head coach of the national team, doesn’t have a sufficient support in home country to stay on the helm.

As „OA Sport“ writes, the case of Berruto is officially opened in Italian Volleyball Federation and it seems that he has minimum of support. It mostly comes only from the President Carlo Magri.

The current coach of Italian national team, capable of winning five medals on important competitions, including Olympics and European Championship, is sharply criticized for the recent disappointing results and managing the team.

It culminated with the decision to expel four major players just before the 2015 World League’s Final Six due to their lack of discipline.

Thus, the opinion in Italy is that he has created a rather unpleasant situation in the national team.

Similar happened in 2006 in female national team of Italy, coached by Marco Bonitta. The players couldn’t tolerate the coach anymore and wanted his resignation. It happened and Massimo Barbolini replaced him.
