In an interview for “Premium Sport”, newly elected President of the Italian Volleyball Federation, Bruno Cattaneo, revealed what are the plans of the organization, on whose helm he stands, in regard to choices for the head coaches of both senior national teams.
“Mazzanti as the next head coach of the Women’s National Team? I think, yes. We just need to define some aspects but I’d say he deserves it for what he did and for what kind of person he is. I guess that he’s the right choice. We have two different realities in the national team: the Men’s is very strong and we have great ambitions for the World Cup 2018 but then, there’s female, a very young national team, which must find a guide to express the great potential it has. And, I think, Mazzanti is the right choice,” Cattaneo said.
“Blengini to stay? From my point of view, he deserves a reappointment for what he did. The qualifications for the Olympics was a remarkable result and then there’s wonderful silver medal in Rio. He’s our choice, we must see if he will also agree,” Italian VF President added.
