No.2 Casalmaggiore took revenge on seventh seed Busto for losing 2017 CEV Cup semifinal battle, six days ago, and prevailed in the opening game of Italian playoff quarterfinals, that was full of twists and turns, on the road. Casalmaggiore captain Valentina Tirozzi scored game-high 24 points while Dominican Brayelin Martínez collected 23 on the other side.
Savino Del Bene Scandicci took care that the start of playoff quarterfinals does not go without upset. No.6 demolished third seed Igor Gorgonzola Novara at home 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20). Dutch Floortje Meijners topped Scandicci’s scorers with 15 points. Croatian Katarina Barun-Šušnjar had 21 for the losing team.
