NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki claimed their ninth national women’s title last Sunday, defeating the previously unbeaten JT Marvelous Nishinomiya 3-1 in the final of the Japan V-League. The match, witnessed by nearly 3,000 fans at Takasaki Arena, ended JT Marvelous’s undefeated run with set scores of 27-25, 32-30, 16-25, 25-17.
Sarina Koga, the 27-year-old outside hitter for NEC Red Rockets, was a key player in the victory, scoring 26 points and earning her second consecutive MVP title.
Earlier, Saitama Ageo Medics secured the bronze with a decisive 3-0 victory against Toyota Auto Body Queenseis Kariya.
