Pan American Games W: Brazil Advance to Semifinals, Argentina Clinch 2nd Place in Pool A

On the third day of the Women’s Volleyball tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Brazil defeated Puerto Rico to sail straight into the semifinals. They topped Group A with an undefeated 3-0 record. The game was notable for the resilient efforts of Puerto Rico, who challenged the Brazilians fiercely, particularly in the second set. However, Brazil’s stellar performance, led by Sabrina Machado’s 18 points, ensured their victory.

On the other hand, Argentina secured a solid 3-0 win against Cuba, clinching the second position in Pool A. This victory paves the way for Argentina to advance to the quarterfinals, where they could face either Chile or Mexico. Despite a close first set, Argentina, with Nicole Pérez’s exceptional 13 points, dominated the match.
