In a dominant performance, Argentina clinched their second consecutive Pan American Cup title by defeating the United States 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) in the finals held in León, Guanajuato. This victory marks Argentina’s second gold medal in the tournament’s history, adding to their collection of two golds and three bronze medals.
Throughout the tournament, Argentina posted an impressive 7-1 record, their only loss coming against the United States during the preliminary rounds. Conversely, the United States finished with a 6-1 record, their sole defeat also at the hands of Argentina. Bianca Farriol led Argentina’s scoring with 15 points and was instrumental with 7 blocks, while Bianca Cugno contributed 13 points. Veronica Perry was the top scorer for the United States with 13 points, supported by Kendall Kipp and Serena Gray, who each added 10 points.
Bianca Farriol expressed her elation, saying, “We never gave up; we gave our last breath to win the gold medal. I’m very emotional. The loss against them in the group stage helped us become more aggressive, and we were able to study them better.”
In the bronze medal match, Colombia triumphed over the Dominican Republic with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-19, 25-14). This marks Colombia’s second bronze medal in the Pan American Cup, following their first in 2019. Colombia finished the event with a 4-3 record, while the Dominican Republic concluded with a 5-2 record. Colombia’s Dayana Segovia and Laura Grajales were the top scorers with 14 and 13 points respectively, while Ana Karina Olaya added 11 points. Gaila González led the Dominican Republic with 11 points.
In individual awards, Bianca Farriol of Argentina was honored as the Most Valuable Player and Best Blocker. Veronica Perry was named Second Best Spiker, while Kendall Kipp and Claire Hoffman received awards for Best Opposite and Best Receiver. Colombian Ana Karina Olaya was recognized as Best Spiker, and Camila Gómez earned accolades for Best Libero and Best Digger. Other notable awards included Best Setter for Mexico’s Karen Rivera and Best Scorer for Grecia Castro. Candida Arias of the Dominican Republic was awarded Second Best Blocker, and Cuba’s Dezireth Madame received Best Server honors.
