The Heungkuk Life Insurance Pink Spiders had a chance to become the first club in 10 years that didn’t lose a single set until the end of the KOVO Cup. However, not only that they failed in such a feat but also didn’t win the trophy at all.
In the 2020 final in Jencheon, the GS Caltex Seoul Kixx took advantage of a bad day of the Pink Spiders’ superstar Kim Yeon-Koung (28.57 % attack, 13 points), who returned to play in her home country after more than a decade, and regained the KOVO Cup trophy after three years. It was the fourth trophy ever of the Seoul team in the competition (2007, 2012, 2017, and 2020).
The American international Merete Lutz top-scored for Caltex with 25 points, including 4 kill blocks. Lee Jae-Yeong tallied 17 points for the Pinks Spiders. The outside hitter of the winning side, Kang So-Hwi, was voted MVP.
