WCQ W: Lutsk ready to host World Championship qualifier

A technical meeting was held on Thursday night at hotel “Svitiaz” in Lutsk where a first-round qualifier for the 2014 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship is set to run this weekend with hosts Ukraine playing there Hungary, Albania and Moldova. The meeting was opened by the Vice President of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation, Oleksandr Biber, who addressed a short speech to the delegations of the four participating teams.

After that the floor was given to CEV Technical Delegate Gabriela Bulgariu, who is also a member of the European Sports Organizing Commission (ESOC); she recapped the qualification process for the 2014 FIVB World Championship with three rounds to be completed in early January 2014 and did also touch upon some technical issues relating the competition.

CEV Referee Delegate Gennady Zharikov of Russia – a member of the European Refereeing Commission (ERC) – introduced the international referees to the teams and briefed them about the latest changes in the rules of the game. He warned the teams they shall be showing fair play and avoid any misconduct and concluded his intervention by wishing them the best possible results in the competition.

The competition in Lutsk is set to start on Friday with Ukraine playing Albania while Hungary takes on Moldova.
