Switzerland faced Japan in the aim of winning a ticket to battle for the fifth position against China on Sunday. The Asians were, without surprise, the favorite team from the beginning. And unluckily, the Swiss were not able to raise to the same level as the Japanese and ended up defeated 3-0.

The best scorer of the match was Nakamura Ayumi with 15 points. The Swiss girls faced difficulties to catch up their opponents and failed in the first set 25-20. The fast game and the numerous kills from their rivals made the second set even tougher for Svetlena Ilic’s team. Adding to this, the increasing number of direct errors – 12 at the end of this set compared to 5 for Japan– brought the Swiss to the score 25-15. We saw a Swiss team losing hope and energy during the last set which finished at 25-14. The Montreux Volley Masters is over for Switzerland, who finished joint 7th with Germany.
