After the conclusion of the 2021/22 Super League, the Korean superstar Kim became a free agent and is now weighing offers for the continuation of the season. What’s sure is that the outside hitter won’t be able to play in her home country because the registration process for the V-League for the current season closed on December 28. As it seems at the moment, the 33-year-old player has only two options – Europe or the United States, where the registration process for the second-ever season of the Athletes Unlimited is still open. On the other hand, the Turkish club Fenerbahçe Opet, in which Kim played between 2011 to 2017, is reportedly looking for ways to recruit her.

The Olympic flag-bearer for Korea in the Tokyo Olympics has been through a turbulent season in China because of a sudden rule change ahead of the start of the season that limited the maximum number of foreign players playing at a time to one per team, instead of two. As the top two players on the Shanghai squad were Kim and American Jordan Larson, they were taking turns on the court.
