JPN W: Tuğba leaves VakıfBank to join last-placed V.League side

The women’s volleyball club champions of Turkey, Europe, and the world – VakıfBank – kind of surprisingly renounced the services of their long-time player Tuğba Şenoğlu.

The winners of five trophies last season, VakıfBank, parted ways with Tuğba, the player who was raised in the club. The 24-year-old outside hitter strengthened Kurobe AquaFairies, the Japanese side which ended the 2021-22 V.League regular season in last place in the standings.

Tuğba was a part of the Istanbul side, including youth categories, since 2013. In these nine years, she wasn’t on the VakıfBank roster only two seasons, which she spent on loans. She was involved in winning three FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championships, two CEV Champions Leagues, four Turkish Championships, three Turkish Cups, and two Turkish Super Cups with the ’yellow and blacks’. Last season in VakıfBank, the Turkey National Team member at the 2022 FIVB VNL was a backup to Gabi and Bartsch-Hackley.

Tuğba recently got married and will play next season with the last name İvegin.
