Hall in Tehran
It was the first game of Iran at home court in the World League 2015 and it was indeed a game to remember! Squad led by Slobodan Kovač hosted the USA, the leader of the Pool and the only team with the maximum score so far in the competition… Well, they do not have the maximum score anymore!
Iran has defeated USA and remained in the race for the World League Final-Six!
Home side finished the match in just three sets, while the second one was probably the decisive. USA had the lead throughout the whole set and even had couple of set points. But, after saving all of them, it was time for Iran to try to finish the set. That was the job for the local hero – Sayed Mousavi! He served and finished the set – 29:27!
Carried by their loud fans Iranian players were flying all over the court in the third set and they finished the game in style – with an ace by Milad Ebadipour Ghara.
The top scorers in the winning side were Shahram Mahmoudi with 16 points, while Sayed Mousavi added 10. On the other side, Aaron Russell was leading USA with 13 points.
