Portuguese men's volleyball is famous by clubs like S.C. Espinho (18 national titles), FC Porto (9 national titles – shut down in 1990) or recently, by SL Benfica Lisboa and A.J. Fonte do Bastardo Azores. Still, there is one club, not so famous, but with the most faithful fans in the country.
Esmoriz G.C, two-time champions of Portugal (1983, 1984), are fighting this season to avoid relegation from Division 1 (currently ninth in the standings out of 12 teams) but when they play at home in Ovar their gymnasium is always fully packed.
This photo proves that Esmoriz have something to stick to in order to survive in the Portuguese championship.

Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce that the 8th edition of TIVE – the International Volleyball Tournament of Esmoriz – North of Portugal, will take place in the school Easter holidays. This tournament is for all junior age groups for both sexes. We can promise you a high quality tournament and a lot of fun too!
TIVE is a key part of the Portuguese volleyball calendar for many leading domestic teams and we are also due to welcome teams from France, Hungary, Turkey, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Angola, Spain, etc.
5 day tournament from 100€ all inclusive, with accommodation in dormitories
Non volleyball activities in the fun zone included – a chance to meet athletes from different clubs and countries
Quality of the competition is assured, with some of the best teams from Portugal and from overseas attending
TIVE 2015 saw 600 participants, 52 teams from 24 different clubs from 5 different countries; 2016 is expected to be more
For the first time, this year the tournament will fit in one week, from 22nd to 26th of March for all age groups (male: U12, U15, U17, U21 and female: U12, U14, U16, U21).
So we would love to have your team participate in this event, once more organized by the Esmoriz Volleyball Club. We will do everything possible to make sure that once again players, family members and all of the volleyball community have an unforgettable experience; both in terms of sport and fun!
