Preliminary inquiry and Technical meeting took place on Thursday, conducted by Jose Luis Jimenez NORCECA Delegate and Professor Jose Ramon Perez Vento Supervisor of the event. The competition will be held at Beto Remon Gymnasium from Friday 17 through Sunday 19, where three countries will advance to the Second Round in 2013.
First match features Belize against El Salvador, followed by the opening ceremony and the match between Panama and Bonaire. This is the first time that Bonaire competes in a NORCECA tournament.
Coaches indicated that their main objective is to qualify to the next round and hope to give a good spectacle.
Allan Sharp, Belize: “We expect to qualify, we have been preparing looking forward for this tournament. We have faced many challenges in Belize to do a proper training but I feel our level has risen over the past years and with our once young players that are now seniors who will put a strong effort.”
Leo Richardson, Bonaire: “The first expectation is to have fun and learn; our second expectation is to improve our game and to put Bonaire up to the standards and everyone in NORCECA know for the first time who Bonaire are.”
Gabriel Linares, El Salvador: “I believe that every team wants to finish in first place and that is also our goal; we’ve prepared pretty well and that is why we’ll give our best possible.”
Reynaldo Ortega, Panamá: “First of all I want to thank God for allowing us to be here and I wish to welcome the rest of the teams hoping for a competitive tournament with positive results for all and may the best team win.”
