“Please don’t ask me if I will return to the national team. I don’t know if it’s a closed matter, but now I find it hard to say what will happen in eight months,” Zagumny was mysterious about his future engagements with the Polish national team.
He was asked to comment the quarterfinal defeat of Poland at Eurovolley, but he was even more mysterious on that.
“You will have to ask the experts,” Zagumny said.
In his book “Life is a game”, the legendary setter explained the misunderstanding with another big name of Polish volleyball, Mariusz Wlazły, which occurred at the 2007 FIVB World Championship.
“Unnecessary media storm rose up. Mariusz knew exactly what we don’t like about him. Later, he gave us his point of view which was not entirely clear because too many secrets were accumulated around the story of his injuries and cramps, back then. Mariusz was driving force of the Polish national team and we missed him very much at the European Championship in Moscow (2009). I have never been a friend with him, but we have always played well on the court and I hope he remembers it a positive period,” Zagumny emphasized.
He added that he expected at least some decency from his previous club Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle in his last season there.
