In the interview that Mendez gave for the blog of Bruno Voloch, he admitted that the Polish Volleyball Federation has contacted him…
“I really received the invitation. I am happy and honored, as Poland is the reigning world champion and a country with huge volleyball tradition. However, it turns out that the thing is not that simple. I have a contract with Sada Cruziero for another 2 years and I want to fulfill it to the end. Therefore I cannot be 100% dedicated to Poland if I have 2 more years of contract with Sada Cruziero. The rules are very clear. The head coach of Poland has to be dedicated to his job every day during all 12 months of the year,” said Mendez.
That means that Mendez will not be able to lead Poland in the next Olympic cycle.
