Jastrzębski Węgiel made their fight for competing in Plus Liga 2017/2018 playoffs very complicated by losing to a club who has changed its name only a day before the match, Stocznia Szczecin, in Round 29 by a 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 15-11).
Jastrzębski remained in the playoff zone in the standings, being currently No.5 with the top six clubs going to the playoffs, but with only two points more than the sixth-placed Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and three points more than the seventh-placed Asseco Resovia Rezszów. And both still have to play two more games in the regular season, unlike Jastrzębski who will play one more game.
Mateusz Malinowski topped Stocznia, who started the season as Espadon before the club management signed the sponsorship deal with the company Stocznia Szczecińska, with 22 points. Janusz Gałązka recorded 80% attack (8/10), while Michał Ruciak made 79% reception (14 digs, 50% perfect). In Jastrzębski, Maciej Muzaj scored 25 points. Grzegorz Kosok added 4 kill blocks.
