Viktor Sidelnikov replaced Andrei Tolochko as head coach of Zenit St. Petersburg.
Tolochko was appointed head coach of Zenit St. Petersburg after the departure of Tuomas Sammelvuo in the previous season. Under his leadership, the team finished the season in 4th place. Zenit St.Petersburg won all 15 games in the first round of the Russian championship this season, but lost 4 out of 9 games in the second round and fell to 3rd place.
As the club announced, the team was entrusted to Viktor Sidelnikov, who will lead Zenit until the end of the current season. Until now, Sidelnikov worked as coach consultant of Zenit St. Petersburg.
During his coaching career, Sidelnikov was at the helm of Zenit-Kazan (2001-2008), Belarusian clubs Metallurg (2008/09) and Shakhtar (2012/13), Austrian Wienna Hot Volleys (2009/10) and Romanian Tomis Constanta (2010/11). Sidelnikov also coached Yaroslavich Yaroslavl (2015–2018), and shortly headed Ural Ufa
