Moscow witnessed an intense volleyball showdown as Zenit Kazan clinched the Russian Cup, defeating Dynamo Moscow 3-1. This victory marks Zenit-Kazan’s third consecutive win and their 12th overall in the competition.
The match started with Dynamo challenging Zenit Kazan, as both teams engaged in a neck-and-neck battle. The first set was a close call, with Zenit Kazan edging out Dynamo 28-26, thanks to a critical error by Dynamo.
The second set saw continued intensity, with both teams locked in a tie-break. Dynamo’s coach, Konstantin Bryanskiy, called for a video check, which revealed a touch on the block, changing the game’s course. Dynamo’s Pavel Pankov and Sam Deroo’s serves ultimately secured the set for Dynamo, equalizing the match.
However, Zenit Kazan regained their dominance in the third set, led by Roman Romanovsky’s powerful serves and a solid defense, closing the set at 25-17. The fourth set saw Dynamo struggling to catch up, but mistakes cost them the set and the match.
Ilya Fiodorov, libero of Zenit Kazan was named the best player of the final.
