A 21-year-old receiver is currently competining with Universidad San Martín de Porres but many fans in Peru think that Leyva outgrew the level of volleyball in her home country and she should try herself overseas, for her sake and for the sake of Peruvian Women’s NT.
“I’m calm in my club. God is going to send me abroad in the best possible time. I can’t and shouldn’t despair. I have a five-year contract with San Martín and I must respect it. I will be free agent at the end of the 2017/2018 season. I want to stay well, with no injuries. I have many proposals and it’s just a matter of sitting down and talking. I’m very interested in the Chinese league, which is quite profitable, and Turkey and Italy, which are perhaps the most important leagues in the world,” Leyva explained.
