A former player of Trentino has finished career a few weeks ago and in an exclusive interview for our website, he explains why he has retired and what will be his new job…
First of all, tell us the reason why you’ve decided to retire?
“Well, my plan was to play until 2016 at the highest level. As the summer went by, i was not offered good contracts and as much as i love volleyball, it was not worth for me and my family. I have been playing since age 10, have traveled, trained, sacrificed a lot for the love of the sport, but right now my family is more important and want to be near my boys.”
When you have decided to finish your career?
“This fall, and it’s not an easy decision.”
What was the reaction of your family, friends and fans?
“Family is happy that I am home, I have a very big family all over USA, Europe. So, it’s great to be more near and available. Most of my friends and fans were shocked, because I had a really good season in Trentino and everyone was waiting for a better year, but the Europe market has become very difficult. The volleyball world has changed in a negative way, many teams don’t buy players based on the skills, but based on friendships between manager-team directors and coaches. This new system will hurt many players and clubs for the future.”
And the main question – What will you do know? Will you try with coaching career?
“Currently I am helping out youth volleyball players all over America, and looking to enter the business world. I want to train my boys. My old one is 13 and wants to be a setter. My father was a setter, he coached me and now it’s my turn” said Suxho with a smile at the end of the interview.
