GP: Italy gets first victory, prevails China in five-setter

In the Final Six of the 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix in Omaha (USA), Italian national team scored its first victory 3-2 (25-15, 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12) and it was over China.

Italy prevailed after Round 3 battle that lasted more than two hours, in which it played very well in the first and fourth set, while in the second and third it made too many errors. China knew how to convert them in its favor.

It all worked out well in the tie-break for the girls of Marco Bonitta, who turned an early gap created by the Chinese team (6-3). The entrance of Lucia Bosetti was very important for Italian NT, as it proved to be decisive moment in the fifth set.

If we analyze statistics, we can see that Italy was significantly better than China in blocking (15 to 7), with Martina Guiggi and Cristina Chirichella both having 4.

In Italy, Indre Sorokaite showed excellent performance, being the top scorer of the match with 25 points, followed by Miriam Sylla with 14.

China was paced by Yanhan Liu’s 18 points. Changning Zhang charted 15.
