Canada
Well, this was quite unexpected, especially after everyone were pointing out the USA as the top favorite to win the gold medal in Rio. However, the Americans have run into a wall already at the start of the tournament, as they were totally outplayed by Canada!
It was just perfect Sunday for all Canadians. The red and white crew played some outstanding volleyball and wrote down a well-deserved triumph over big rival. Nicolas Hoag was the top scorer in the winning team with 14 points, while Gavin Schmitt stopped at 13.
On the other side, Matt Anderson scored 15 points for the USA.

Unbelievable. Totally unbelievable. I love Canada but this is just too much. Whats happening USA :((
I couldnt watch the game. Can someone please tell me what was the direct causes of this loss?
@Duncan 18 missed serves, by USA. Canada had a very good serving game and they hit smart. Mat Anderson was used only 2 or 3 times in set one. Then Sander and Russell made some errors at key moments. Add in to that, Holt and Lee were hitting well but the passing level dropped and so Christensen found it difficult to go to them. Canada had scouted well and worked hard to make touches in the block. In effect it was like watching a mirror image of a team. Canada made less errors though.
Canada is not favourite but to say shock is very disrepectful for them. They are not easy to win, and not jus USA all the big team is not playing good can also lose to them.
Give them respect when they deserved.
